Don’t Worry, Be Happy

By | Information | No Comments

It sounds like the simplest advice in the world, and despite the ear-bug lyrics of the classic hit by Bobby McFerrin it’s still exceedingly difficult to simply stop worrying, especially when those worries are financial or health related.

You’ve probably heard of the negative effects that stress and worry can have on your body such as:

  • Feelings of apprehension
  • Muscle tension
  • Restlessness or on edge
  • Easily fatigued
  • Tension headaches
  • Problems with concentration
  • Irritability
  • Shallow, uneven breathing
  • Increase in heart rate and blood pressure
  • Sweating
  • Feeling nauseous or sick
  • Trembling and shaking
  • Sleep disturbance (such as difficulty falling or staying asleep, or restless unsatisfying sleep).

If you’re already in pain, or suspect that you may have a medical condition that requires treatment, then a lot of these effects can exacerbate the problem with negative implications for both your health and the happiness of those around you.

It’s not always easy but sometimes the best way to remove worry is to face it. That can be difficult to do, especially when it’s a medical worry and you know there’s going to be a financial cost such as having to get an MRI, CT or X-ray to even determine if there is a problem.

That’s why Veritas Diagnostic Services exists – to help remove that worry. We don’t claim to be able to solve all your problems, or even remove all of your worry, but we do think we can lessen the burden by making  medical imaging as affordable as possible to everyone. Then you can quit worrying about what the problem might be, or if one even exists and begin the important process of finding the right treatment and healing.

After all, if you must worry it should at least be about the right thing.

Affordable Imaging For Everyone

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

– World Health Organization

That definition of health has not been updated by the World Health Organization since 1948. That’s telling. Until recently I wasn’t aware of that definition but it has always coincided with my experience of what health should be – what my own health should be.

When Dr. Ronderos and I first started discussing the gaps in the availability of medical imaging it was immediately apparent to us that the need for accessible and affordable imaging was about more than just physical health and diagnosing existing conditions, it’s about the mental well-being of the patient, too.

Being worried, upset or in pain has a demonstrable negative effect, and not just to you. No matter how you try to disguise it, the effects on your own well-being and attitude have knock-on effects on everyone around you, most notably those you love the most.

We want to remove that worry. Everyone deserves peace of mind, and everyone deserves to enjoy life and time with their loved ones without that nagging “what if” bringing them down.

Peace of mind comes from knowledge, and if you must worry then you really should be worrying about the right thing. Instead of worrying if something is wrong, you could be expending that energy getting treatment.

In the current climate, even with the Affordable Healthcare Act in place, high deductibles or a lack of insurance can make the many services such as MRI and CT scans prohibitively expensive, and we aim to fix that.

Our goal at Veritas Diagnostic Services is to make medical imaging affordable to everyone . To further that we are negotiating with imaging centers and medical practices on the Gulf Coast to bring the price down to excellent care at affordable levels for everyone.

To start with we are offering MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and CT  (Computerized Tomography) scans. Shortly we will be adding X-Rays, and as we go on we aim to make a wide variety of necessary and discretionary services affordable to everyone.

I’d like to thank our partners who are working with us to achieve this goal, and I invite you to provide your feedback and questions using the comment form below, by emailing us at info@veritasdiagnostic.com or by calling us at (251) 458-3875.
